Electrical transformer
to satellite communication specialist AEC has just completed
the delivery of 400 UPS (uninterruptible
power supply) units to support critical
applications within the Olympic Games 2004 infrastructure.
AEC (The Allis Electric Company) was chosen by ANCO
SA, Athens, telecommunications specialists and a key
supplier to the Olympic Games, due to the proven reliability
of the AEC range of UPS products. AEC was also able
to supply the full requirement of 600VA line-interactive
to 80kVA on-line units, within the tight delivery
deadline.

50kVA to 1.2mVA
The potential problem of supporting
400 UPS units dispersed around the Olympic Games infrastructure
was also a major consideration in the choice of supplier.
The AEC UPS units can be monitored and managed remotely
using a choice of 4 different methods, including via
a computer network (the UPS acts as a node on the network)
and via a standard web browser from anywhere in the
world. The company also provides a support service,
which remotely manages and monitors any AEC UPS on behalf
of clients.
The complete
range of products designed and manufactured by AEC
includes UPS, automotive navigation systems,
mobile 'phone batteries, GPS systems, ICO satellite
communications systems, transformers and lithium ion
smart batteries. Founded in 1968 the Allis
Electric Company (AEC) operates from headquarters
in Taipei, Taiwan with manufacturing plants in Europe,
Asia and the United States.
AEC manufactures a range of UPS from
small desktop units designed to support individual
workstations up to 1.2mVA units capable of
handling the power for a whole enterprise.
All units can be monitored and managed by remote access,
providing additional peace of mind and operational
simplicity for the end user.
